Offer Accepted

Good news!! We heard from Cathy (our realtor) that our last offer has been accepted! She is expecting to have the signed offer in had by noon on Monday so we can go in after work and get things rolling. With the offer as it stands now we will be able to take possesion of the house on December 14th. Merry Christmas to us!!

Scout Hike

I have been trying to recover today from a scout hike that I took a bunch of boys on Saturday. Being the Assistant Scoutmaster I went along to help the boys earn part of the hiking merit badge. They had to complete a 20 mile hike in one day and also learn to identify the different wildlife along the way. The area that we chose was Oak Openings Metro Park as they had a loop that was 17 miles then several adjoining loops that we could choose from to make the 20 miles. The park is also commemorating 50 years so they had a patch available to those who complete the 17 mile loop.

It was a beautiful day with a high around 60 degrees and all the leaves were vibrant fall colors. I was looking forward to an easy hike in a place that the elevation doesn't vary by more than a few feet. Being from Utah I'm used to climbing mountains if you want to go more than just a few miles. We had a group of 5 boys who were surprisingly cheerful about going on an outing early Saturday morning. One of they boys actually has Cerebral Palsy and did an amazing job. He only made it through the 17 mile loop, but we are still counting that for his 20 mile requirement. After 15 miles I was wondering if I would even make it. By the end of the trip I had a blister on each heel the size of a quarter and very tired feet. It was a great time to be out in the wood to enjoy the fall season.

House Offer

Heaven help us, we just agreed to an offer for our house. Now just pray that everything goes smoothly and the money end works itself out. 30 years of servitude is kind of depressing, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

House shopping

We are currently looking for a house in the Toledo area. We have found a great house in an even greater area (Sylvania if your curious). We are still in the process of working out the offer, but we are hopping that by this weekend we will be on our way to our first house. Here is a pic of the outside.

It was built in 1907 and needs a little work, but has a lot of potential. For the area and the size we are getting a steal on the price. It has the original hardwood floors and a lot of the original wood work. We are so excited to make it our own.

Introduction

I've started this blog for the benefit of family, more specifically for my mother, who are far away from our current spot of residence. You can check here from time to time to see what is going on and some of my thoughts at the moment.

Please be reassured that I will be checking in on a regular daily basis so any feedback and comments that you leave I will receive in a fairly timely manner. With that said, however, I reserve the right to ignore, complain, or even make fun of any duly deserved remarks. ;-)

As I am new to this blog phenomenon please let me know if there is anything you would like me to add. Enjoy. Thanks!
